Ophthalmic Technician

Dr. Kranemann and Associates — a busy, well-established OHIP-funded ophthalmology clinic in North York — is seeking a skilled and motivated Ophthalmic Technician to join our clinical team.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys patient interaction, and is passionate about excellence in diagnostic eye care.

This role involves performing detailed ophthalmic testing, assisting physicians during examinations and clinical trials, and ensuring smooth daily operations within a high-volume practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and record complete patient workups and histories.
• Perform advanced ophthalmic tests including refraction / retinoscopy, keratometry, lensometry, tonometry, visual fields, pupil exams, slit-lamp assessments, topography, OCT, A-scans, and IOL Master measurements.
• Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and research trials.
• Enter data accurately in EMR systems and manage patient documentation.
• Maintain and sterilize diagnostic instruments and equipment.
• Support clinical staff with scheduling, patient preparation, and workflow efficiency.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in an ophthalmology clinic (required).
• Strong command of the English language — both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and basic computer skills.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask under pressure.
• Professional, reliable, and adaptable to rotating shifts (days, evenings, occasional weekends).
• Ability to commute or relocate reliably to North York.

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay Rate: $19 – $22 per hour (based on experience).
• Type: Part-Time (16 – 30 hours per week).
• Schedule: Flexible — days, evenings, and occasional weekends.
