What Is the Work Term Like in Seneca College’s Opticianry Program?
Every student in Seneca’s Opticianry program must complete a mandatory work term or clinical placement to graduate.
During this placement, students gain real-world experience in optical stores or clinics and apply their skills in fitting eyewear, measuring PD and seg heights, and interacting with patients.
The work term is typically one semester long. Seneca provides guidance and job postings but students must secure their own placements.
This hands-on training is vital for developing professional confidence and meeting licensing requirements.
