Clinical Placement and Internship Experience in Seneca College’s Opticianry Program

One of the most valuable components of the Seneca College Opticianry program is the hands-on clinical placement and internship experience. During the final semesters of the Opticianry program, Seneca students participate in supervised placements at optical clinics, retail eyewear stores, or optometry offices. These internships provide direct exposure to patient care, frame fitting, lens verification, and optical lab operations.

Typically, students complete two major placement periods—one focused on eyeglasses and another on contact lenses. Each placement lasts several weeks and may involve part-time hours during the academic term or full-time work near the program’s end.
