As a student optician at Seneca Polytechnic, I am passionate about patient care and continuously expanding my knowledge of the optometry field. My journey began in 2020 through a high school coop program, where I gained hands-on experience as an optometric assistant. I quickly developed skills in preliminary testing, patient triaging, administrative work, and overall found great fulfillment and importance in educating patients on their eye health.
My growing interest in optometry led me to pursue the opticianry program at Seneca, where I’ve had the opportunity to dive deeper into the world of eyeglasses and contact lenses. In September 2024 I completed a coop in dispensing eyeglasses, where I honed my skills in prescription analysis, lens and frame selection, fitting measurements, and patient education. Now, I’m eager to expand my expertise by developing skills in contact lens fitting.
I understand the impact of clear vision on daily life as a glasses and contact lens wearer myself, and I’m thrilled to continue my journey in opticianry, improving patient experiences and helping people see better every day. I am currently seeking a full-time co-op opportunity in contact lens fitting to further develop my skills as a future RO and contribute to a professional practice.
